New container handling process results in new intermodal freight transport option
Logistics and Intralogistics SystemsNew technical solutions and robotics are also creating new opportunities in container transport. Environmental objectives, reducing CO2 emissions in the freight transport sector, require new solutions. The solution is to increase the share of rail freight transport compared to road freight transport. In parallel with the development of railway capacity (Piraeus - Belgrade - Budapest), the technological solutions to improve the competitiveness of intermodal rail-road freight transport must also be considered. The Loxodon-HCT container handling technology (transshipment robot) has enabled the development of a freight transport model that results in competitive intermodal freight transport in terms of price and time compared to road freight transport, up to 300 km.
