RULA method for ergonomic risk assessment of work tasks – case study on load manipulation and its possible improvements

Logistics and Intralogistics Systems

This paper deals with the topic of ergonomic risk assessment of work tasks using the RULA method and the measurement of a workstation improvement. To better understand the topic, the areas of ergonomics and their importance in designing the workplace are described, as well as the continuous improvement due to the reduction of the workload of workers. The problems and causes of musculoskeletal disorders are listed, as well as recommendations and solutions to prevent their occurrence.
On the example of a workstation with delivery of boxes by conveyor and stacking on a pallet, the ergonomic assessment, using the RULA method, will be conducted to detect the risk of injury. The improvements will be done by introducing a new device, ergonomically convenient, to minimize the load and risk of injury.
