Virtual warehouse simulation in Industry 4.0 scenarios

Logistics application can greatly benefit from VR environments. In the context of Industry 4.0 and warehouse management, virtual warehouses are intuitive way to show and predict processes and activities in warehouse. To understand the dynamic behaviour of the systems and verify implemented designs or processes in time frame the use of simulation studies are necessary. X3D node concept, object-oriented features and event driven approach suits well to virtual environment. An XML is used as interface definition of nodes and their behaviour characteristics parameters. The study of a specific application enables us to highlight the possibilities of the X3D language to model, visualise and to do interactive parameters changing for actions in the warehouse. In this work, we present integration approach of virtual environments and logistic applications to develop 3D simulations on next level.

Host city and venue - Vienna

Vienna (Wien) is the federal capital and largest city of Austria, and one of the nine states of Austria. Vienna is Austria's primate city, with a population of about 1.9 million (2.6 million within the metropolitan area, nearly one third of Austria's population), and its cultural, economic, and political centre. It is the 7th-largest city by population within city limits in the European Union.  Read more...
