Abstract: Basic parameters (stiffness and damping) are of variable magnitude during the lifting, so their values are defined through a combination of theoretical analysis and performed experiments at elevators.
Experimental method refers to the procedure of acceleration measurement result consideration, forces in the ropes by strain gauges or the velocity by encoders. Based on relations of the theory of free harmonic oscillations with the damping and measured values of acceleration, velocity or forces in the ropes, stiffness, elasticity modulus and damping determination are possible in real conditions depending on the current position of cabin or counterweight at the moment when the driving pulley is stopped.
The method is able to be used for determination of the real stiffness velues, elasticity modulus and wire ropes damping at all electric elevator types, and mine elevators. The method shows the full significance at express elevators (extreme kinematic parameters) that are in exploitation. Also, the method can be realised at other transporting systems for vertical load lifting by the ropes (many types of cranes etc.). Adequate procedures of dynamic models determination are required.
